Local businesses are best served by logos that are symbolic yet abstract. This logo style conveys the essence of your business even if you aren’t a household name, yet is easy to reproduce on Dallas custom t-shirts or embroidered polo shirts due to its simplicity.
Urban Taco, a trendy Dallas eatery that is a cut above standard Tex-Mex fare, is a great example of a local business with an effective logo and an effective social media presence. Think about the logo on the left and what it might symbolize. The U stands for urban, but it also represents an open taco shell filled with meat, beans, and lettuce. The Logovore eats up great logo design like this!
You’ll hear plenty of chatter about Urban Taco, because they talk with their customers on Facebook and Twitter. And they make effective use of local sponsorships, by supporting organizations such as the Dallas Social Media Club, a local organization that meets their target demographic whose members are heavily involved in social media and buzz. A symbolic, graphic logo and a social media marketing strategy–two reasons why Urban Taco is muy bueno.

Definitely a great logo. Though, I see a stop light when I look at it. Still coo, though.

I see what you mean. Except that in the US, the color red is on top. I’ve heard that in Ireland, green gets top billing on all the traffic lights.
