It’s difficult to design a descriptive logo that looks clean and attractive. Fat Straws, a Plano and Dallas-based tea shop, has a striking logo that successfully conveys its bubbly essence. The logo uses a playful font and a highly stylized bubble tea icon combined with the slogan Bubble Tea.
Although I’m not the most ardent fan of descriptive-style logos, it’s a good choice for Fat Straws. For one thing, many people haven’t heard of bubble tea, which combines tea with milk and sugar and spices it up with tapioca balls. “Fat Straws” are used to suck up the chewy goodness from the tapioca at the bottom of the cup. The stylized icon depicts a fat straw in tea, while the slogan “bubble tea” helps to explain its business.
The test for a successful logo boils down to this:
Does it convey your business mission?
Is it memorable?
The Fat Straws logo gets a thumbs up on both counts. And it gets bonus points because it works well in one color. For affordability reasons, you may need to print in just one color, whether it’s flyers or Plano custom t-shirts.
